Unhappy New Year for Bangkok Gamblers
It was an unhappy New Year for more than 100 gamblers in Bangkok this New Years Eve. As the clock struck midnight, police swooped on an illegal gambling house in Bangkok arresting between 108 and 119 unlucky players. Police confiscated about $50,000.00 (two million baht) in New Years winnings from the disgruntled players.
The North Bangkok casino was raided last summer resulting in a staggering 353 arrests. Many players take the trip to Poipet in Cambodia just 210 km east of Bangkok where gambling is legal. For those who choose to stay playing in Thailand where there are no legal casinos have to play a constant cat and mouse game with the authorities...Good Luck!
