Super casino bid could falter

As final approval for the UK’s first super casino is made this Wednesday, MPs and peers from towns whose bids were unsuccessful are planning a revolt.

Unfortunately, the bill can not be amended and as such the disgruntled MPs have found themselves in a unique position. A move to change the location from Manchester to another city would mean that the whole bill, which seeks to grant 16 other authorities with smaller casinos, would be thrown out.

To add insult to injury a once ‘supporter’ of the bill and leader of the Tory party David Cameron decided to change his backing of the bill on Friday. The seemingly indecisive Tory backbenchers met on Wednesday and agreed to back the bill. However, just over 24 hours later in a phone call to Tessa Jowell, Cameron informed her that he too would be opposing the bill.

The full list of the 16 other large and small casinos are as follows:

Large Casinos
Great Yarmouth
Kingston upon Hill
Leeds
Newham
Middlesbrough
Milton Keynes
Solihull
Southampton

Small Casinos
Bath
East Lindsey
