Today’s Prince of Wales’s Stakes (3:45) at Royal Ascot is set to be the highlight of the whole week with one of the most competitive fields.

Even though there are now only six runners after Kandidate dropped out, every horse in the field is a top-class performer.

Dylan Thomas, winner of the Irish Derby, is slight favourite at 5/2. Trainer Aidan O’Brian will be hoping that the 4 year-old justifies his decision to put George Washington in yesterday’s Queen Anne Stakes.

However, Manduro, from the impressive stables of Andre Fabre, has more-than-solid credentials and is receiving the backing of many experts and punters alike. He finished third in this race last year, is comfortable on any ground and has a swift change of foot that could see him pull away from the field in the closing furlongs.

Further down the field, Red Rocks and Notnowcato are also top class performers that are in with a shout.

Notnowcato, at 9/2, is improving all the time and has a victory over Dylan Thomas in last months Tattersall’s Gold Cup at the Curragh in his pocket.

Red Rocks, winner of last November’s Breeders’ Cup Turf, is at 10/3 and can point to a recent victory over Notnowcato at Sandown in April.

Derby winner Sir Percy is a little further out at 12/1 and may be worth an each-way bet.

With such a high calibre field it is set to be a cracking race whatever the result.
