Manchester United poker tournament

Old Trafford may be known as ‘The Theatre of Dreams’ for its long history of incredible football matches, but last night it hosted a battle of a different kind; a charity poker tournament.

The tournament was made up of ex-Manchester United players Bryan Robson, Denis Irwin, Lou Macari, Mickey Thomas, Andy Ritchie, Arthur Albiston and defending champion and David May. Joining them was competition winner, Mark Donnelly from Canterbury, Kent.

The result of the game is yet to be revealed although Mickey Thomas, a 33/1 outside, is said to have made all the running in the early stages of the game.

However, unlike most poker tournaments, the winner doesn’t really matter. With thousands of pounds being made for charity, it is clear who will be the true winner.
