Poker movie “Deal” released soon
Deal, a poker movie featuring screen legend Burt Reynolds, will be released in selected countries on April 25.
Following hot on the footsteps of the success of 21: The Movie, which topped the box-office in the U.S, the film follows a similar plot-line.
Alex Stillman, played by Bret Harrison, is the cocky, maverick, poker-playing student from Yale University. However, he does not have the skills or experience yet to fulfil his dreams of becoming a professional poker pro.
A chance meeting with retired poker legend Tommy Vinson, played by Reynolds, gives Alex the chance to learn all he can from Tommy. Conversely, Tommy regains his enthusiasm for the game and together, they dominate poker tournaments around the country.
Guess what happens next?
A woman comes along and messes it all up.
Alex takes a fancy to a Las Vegas call girl, Michelle (played by Shannon Elizabeth), which drives a big clichéd wedge between the two.
The pair then part ways and head to the World Series of Poker, who they provide each other with their stiffest competition.
The movie also includes a host of poker pro’s such as Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem and Scott Lazar, executive producer of the film.
(This all sounds a bit too much like the 1986 classic 'The Colour ofMoney' starring Tom Cruise and Paul Newman in similar roles as abovebut based on the game of pool!)
