Playtech subsidiary in Mexican deal
Playtech, software provider to the online casino industry, has announced that its subsidiary Videobet has entered into a long-term licencing deal with the Mexican casino operator, Entretenimiento De Mexico SA De C.V. (EMex).
"This deal is the first significant step for our land-based offering, opening up a whole new market whilst complimenting and further strengthening our existing portfolio,” said Playtech chief executive Avigur Zmora.
Videobet produces digital gaming machines for land-based casinos and EMex will add their products to their current and future casino operations.
EMex is the largest video-slot machine operator in Mexico with a total of twelve gambling halls, comprising of other 4,000 machines and 180,000 registered players.
The deal will also see Playtech and EMex working together to produce online and mobile gaming products in an attempt to target the Latin American market.
The casino industry in Mexico has slowly matured in the last few years after a period of tough gambling laws. Gambling has now become legalised, with many new casino projects in the pipeline.
