Playboy Mansion to open on casino island
It has been announced that Hugh Hefner plans to expand the Playboy lifestyle into the Far East with the opening of the Playboy Mansion in the casino and gambling paradise of Macau.
According to his daughter and chief executive of Playboy Enterprises, Christie Hefner, the resort will cover 40,000-square feet and will incorporate many of the familiar characteristics of the Playboy Mansion such as a pool, grotto and a villa-style hotel. Dealers at gaming tables will be dressed as the famed ‘Playboy Bunnies’.
The resort, in a partnership with Macao Studio City, is planned to be open by late 2009 with the Playboy Mansion being part of a $2 billion project by the former.
"The Playboy brand is known around the world as representing 'the good life', and we look forward to bringing the brand to life in Macao. Macao has vast growing power as a travel destination, with the number of visitors expected to double between 2006 and 2011," said Christie Hefner.
"Macao's enormous growth potential along with the extensive entertainment, hospitality and gaming industry experience of our partners make this deal an attractive strategic move for the company,” she added.
Playboy recently opened a club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas last October with another club also speculated for London.
