Party Squeeses Empire Poker

Gaming operator Empire Online issued a profits warning today after its players were banned from gambling at the same tables as clients of poker giant PartyGaming.

Empire Online said its profits for the 12 months to the end of December would be 10% lower than the City expected following a fall in rake – gaming revenues - from its EmpirePoker.com website.

The warning came just a week after PartyGaming said it was no longer prepared to allow customers of rival websites, such as EmpirePoker.com, to play on its flagship PartyPoker site.

Empire Online said: “Since that date, the company has seen a slowdown in the rake generated by EmpirePoker.com. “The company now expects net profit for 2005 to be approximately 10% lower than consensus market estimates.” Shares in Empire Online fell 5% today.
