Mourinho to manage Portugal national team?
Following his shock departure from Chelsea last night, bookmakers believe Jose Mourinho’s next job will be managing the Portuguese national team.
Mourinho is at 7/4 to manage his home nation in his next permanent job, which is no surprise considering he has openly admitted on several occasions over the years he saw himself in that role in the future.
However, the possibility of Mourinho moving to Barcelona at 9/2, one of Chelsea’s greatest rivals in Europe, must not be ruled out. Mourinho worked at Barcelona when ex-England manager Bobby Robson was managing the Spanish giant and has drawn admiration from president Joan Laporta.
Meanwhile, Chelsea need a new manager. Avram Grant is set to take over as caretaker manager for at least the remainder of the season and is 1/3 favourite to be named as the next permanent Chelsea manager. He is followed by the usual host of managers that are always touted as possibilities when big jobs become available, such as Guus Hiddink at 6/1, Fabio Capello at 10/1 and current manager of the Portuguese national team Phil Scolari at 10/1.
