Man drowns in casino moat

A man has drowned in a moat surrounding the Isle of Capri Casino, Missouri, whilst fleeing from casino security staff. Police said the man, Anthony, Swopes, 21, took off after he was questioned about his identification at the casino and as he jumped over a railing, he fell into the moat only to never surface.

It was later discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

However, it is not the first time that someone has drowned in the moat. According to police, a woman drowned in a similar incident in July 2005.

A spokeswoman for the Isle of Capri Casino said the Missouri Gaming Commission was investigating the incident.
