Ladbrokes and 888 call off talks
The speculation over whether Ladbrokes would take over the online casino and poker room 888.com has finally ended today with both sides coming to an amicable agreement to discontinue talks, according a statement from 888.com.
The talks have slowly burned along ever since last November in the aftermath of the US’s clampdown on internet gambling though earlier in the year there was speculation that Ladbrokes had devised a format that would eliminate any potential action from US authorities should the company take over 888.com.
Nevertheless, it seems as though the uncertainty was enough for Ladbrokes to steer clear of one of the biggest and most successful online gambling operations.
Shares in 888 fell 10p to 112.5p in trading this morning though Ladbrokes saw gains of 3.75p, up to 407.25p.
