Hatton v Mayweather Fight: Betting Odds
As the hottest fight all year draws ever closer, betting on the Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather fight has taken a U-turn with previously patriotic British punters now sticking their money on 'Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather.
'Ricky has been all the rage up until now as patriotic punters poured cash on him, and his odds went as low as 6/4, but now the fight is looming up we are beginning to see serious support for Mayweather, who has shortened from 8/15 to ½,” said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
William Hill also predicts that the fight will be the first ever to surpass the £10 million betting turnover mark.
'We have already taken a record pre-fight turnover, well into six figures, and all the indications are that the interest in this contest will produce a record-breaking turnover well into eight figures,” said Sharpe.
However, should Hatton upset the odds and knockout Mayweather then the bookies could be in for a hammering.
“Those fancying Ricky are backing him to win via a knockout”, said Sharpe.
“Those backing Mayweather are almost unanimously going for a points win for the American and, at 6/5, that would be our second biggest payout.”
The fight is this Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
