Global Gambling to top $155B by 2012
Gambling revenue accrued from around the world will top $155 billion in 2012, according to a new report by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
The remarkable figure will be driven by a growth of 6.5 per cent year on year.
It’s no surprise that the Asia Pacific region has been earmarked as the region that will experience the most growth, estimated at 15.2 per cent a year and generating $37.2 billion by 2012.
Nevertheless, the United States will remain the world leader in the market, contributing $73.3 billion by 2012 with 4 per cent annual growth.
However, casinos in Nevada and Atlantic City should be prepared for declining revenues in 2008 and 2009 caused by the current dip in the economy.
It’s not all doom and gloom though; the report forecasts an upturn in 2010 for Nevada, culminating in revenues topping $14.8 billion by 2012.
