Empire Wins $250 Million
Online Poker site Empire Online has been locked into a bitter legal battle with Party Gaming for several months. This seemingly never ending legal battle finally ended yesterday.
PartyGaming, owner of the massive online poker site PartyPoker.com has announced that it will pay Empire $250 million in cash. This is by way of a settlement over a legal dispute over ownership of marketing and online assets.
Empire online is essenmtially a ‘skin’, an online casino site with an individual homepage or skin which then uses another companies software. PartyGamingdesolved the partnership with Empire, Empire then claimed that PartyGaming attempted to take Empire’s internet poker clientele through various suspicious marketing campaigns.
Noam Lanir, founder and CEO of Empire Onlin recommended, “This was a tough but necessary period in our development; we did not give up and we emerged stronger.” he went on to say, “We anticipate $37 million in profit this year from our existing business. Ther Party Gaming settlement will help supportour efforts to enter into the European and Far Eastern Markets.”
