Chinese man gets life for lottery scam
The Chinese man who noticed a flaw in a lottery system that allowed him to buy the winning tickets 5 minutes after the winning numbers were announced, has been jailed for life.
Zhao Liqun, 36, noticed the flaw in the Welfare Lottery “3D” system in 2005 and subsequently cashed around 28 million yuan ($3.76 million) in illegal tickets.
The Intermediate People’s Court in Anshan, in the north-eastern Heilongjiang province, heard that he asked neighbours and family to cash the tickets from the three lottery stall he ran and bring the money back to him.
