Cheltenham Festival: Ryanair Chase betting
Monet Chase will go into today’s 2.35pm Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham today as the 5/2 favourite. His impressive win over the fences in the Ascot Chase last month after some poor performances showed what he is capable of and is receiving some heavy backing. He's been beaten just twice in seven starts over the fences.
Despite some recent disappointing performances, Old Vic is likely to be another challenger, capable of showing glimpses of class. However, he is one of those enigmas; sometimes brilliant, other times uninspiring.
"He’s one you can’t depend on, but when he's good he's good," jockey Timmy Murphy once said.
Old Vic, who is currently at 7/2 Tote Sport shows his best form when he comes into races fresh and a 47-day break should prove ample to see him in contention.
Taranis, part of the impressive Paul Nicholls stable, has been predicted by his trainer to win at least two important handicap hurdles this year and at 4/1 may be a smart selection.
