Cheltenham Festival: Coral Cup tips

With 28 horses declared and a history that points towards uncertainty, today’s 4.00 Coral Cup will be as difficult a conundrum that punters will face.

The race is set to be a tight one with a handful of horses with realistic chances. Only one favourite has won out of the last ten runnings of this race.

Burntoakboy is current favourite at 8/1 but Copsale Lad at 10/1 and Royal’s Darling at 16/1 are receiving the backing of many pundits.

Royals Darling has had this race in his sights all season but after a uninspiring performance at Sandown last time out, support has not been as great as it could have been. Even so, he is still not one to be over-looked.

Nicky Henderson’s Copsale Lad is also well-fancied. After a good performance over the fences last time out at Newbury over 3 miles, the 10-year-old definitely has the stamina for the shorter race and is definitely worth a look.

If you fancy a decent each-way bet, Golden Bay at 30/1 looks to provide the best value. The impressive Daryl Jacob has taken the saddle for the Suzy Smith trained horse and after some noteworthy performances at the start of the season, Golden Bay could prove to be one of the best each-way bets of the meet.
