Cheltenham pubs betting illegal, warn Gambling Commission
With one of the highlights of the horseracing calendar fast approaching, the Gambling Commission has issued a warning to publicans to not allow betting on their premises.
The commission has reiterated the current law to publicans to avoid any misunderstandings come next week’s event.
“The commission is aware there may be some misunderstanding about what is and is not permitted,” said Andrew Lyman, director of monitoring and enforcement for the commission.
“We want to make it clear that commercial betting in pubs and clubs is illegal gambling and anyone providing these facilities is breaking the law.”
