Alleged casino murder search goes on
Sheriff’s deputies and a SWAT team failed to find a woman who claimed she had shot her husband in a room at the Harrah’s Rincon Casino and Resort in San Diego after a room-to-room search.
A woman phoned the hotel’s switchboard at about 3 pm yesterday and said she had killed her husband over gambling losses and planned to kill herself.
The call prompted authorities to close down the third floor whilst bomb-arson robots checked all of the 55 rooms on the floor. Witnesses claim they heard noises about the same time as the call, according to sheriff’s Lt. Phil Brust.
However, Brust is not sure whether the information is completely reliable.
“We consider the information not credible,” Brust said. However, he added that they would continue to investigate the phone call.
After the call, the Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol blocked roads to the resort to prevent people from coming in, although people were allowed to leave the resort.
It is thought that if the woman did make the call from the hotel, then she slipped out before the authorities arrived.
