Betting: Carling Cup Final

Sunday’s Carling Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea has all the ingredients of a classic match, according to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The game certainly has the quality players to produce that, but very rarely do cup finals live up to their billing. However, this week’s mind games between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have added a little spice to the game.

Chelsea may go into the game as favourites with Paddy Power at 6-5, but Arsenal’s performances this year in the Carling Cup, with an almost second-string team, have been the highlight of the tournament. Some also argue that Arsenal’s reserve team is playing better than the first team at the moment, following their midweek loss in the Champions League to PSV Eindhoven.

At 11-5, Arsenal show good value considering Chelsea are not on top form at the moment and will be without defensive lynchpin and England captain John Terry.

Arsenal’s Brazilian, Julio Baptista, will be hoping to continue his impressive goalscoring form in the Carling Cup after his four goals at Anfield against Liverpool and brace against North London rivals Tottenham in the Semi Final. Paddy Power has Baptista at a tempting 80-1 to carry on his scoring exploits and score a hat-trick within 90 minutes.
