Britains First Ever Blind Bingo Caller
The UK’s first ever blind bingo caller has started work in Gloucester. Ray Peart, a 60-year-old ex-soldier who lost his sight in a 1973 Belfast blast. Despite of his disability Ray has fulfilled his dream of becoming a bingo caller.
Ray took part in a bingo night in his hometown and enjoyed it so much he set his sights on becoming a professional caller. He managed to obtain a special bingo-calling machine, which is fitted with a voice synthesizer. The machine ‘speaks’ the picked numbers via headphones into Roy’s ear allowing him then to relay the information to the crowd. Congratulations Roy!
