Bingo on the Box
Bingo operator Think Bingo has begun advertising its real money site on TV in the UK.
The landmark ads are running on ITV2 and ITV3, the sister sites of the UK’s largest TV channel ITV.
Bingo is currently the only form of gambling that can be legally advertised on UK TV, and land-based Bingo operator Mecca launched a TV campaign earlier this year.
But the ads from Think Bingo are believed to be the first from an online bingo site and are possible as the site offers no other forms of gaming. Bingo is exempt in Section 42(2) of the Gaming Act from ad restrictions, so long as there are no other slots or gambling games offered on the site.
“We pride ourselves on Think Bingo and Bingo Scotland being the only bingo sites in the world not to offer slots and other gambling games,” Dylan Schlosberg, from Think Bingo, said.
“As a result we have access to television as a medium to build the brands.”
Bingo is proving to be a strong growth sector in the UK, with several major operators entering the market it the last twelve months. Virgin Games became one of the most recent to enter the space when it joined portal operator Yahoo UK and land-based bingo operator Gala on the Parlay bingo network.
Think bingo uses software from Globalcom.
