Pensioner becomes UK’s first bingo millionaire
A pensioner, from Brislington, Bristol, has become Britain’s first bingo millionaire after gambling just 60p on Gala Bingo’s website.
Pauline Clarke, 62, had put £5 in her Gala account two weeks ago but was down to her last 60p when her jackpot numbers came up.
She was up against 15,000 players in Gala Bingo’s KerChingo game which was designed to make Britain’s first bingo millionaire.
"I'm absolutely shocked - my heart is still racing,” Mrs Clarke said yesterday.
Sadly, Mrs Clarke’s husband died 13 years ago and they used to play regularly at their local bingo hall.
"I've been playing bingo for years and I had always thought I would win big. I just wish my husband was around to see it,” she added.
However, Mrs Clarke always thought she would one day win big at bingo after being told by a clairvoyant that she would never be stuck for cash – but after retiring two years ago from her job as a supervisor because of stress, she had come to wonder if that day would ever come.
“I do remember a clairvoyant once said to me I'd never be stuck for cash, but when I needed to retire from work two years ago through stress I wondered what she could have meant,” Mrs Clarke said.
Mrs Clarke now plans to pay off her children’s mortgages and do some renovating on her house.
