Big Brother Betting Odds: Charley most unpopular housemate
Charley Uchea, cousin of Manchester United star Kieran Richardson, is the most unpopular new Big Brother housemate ever, according to bookmaker Ladbrokes.
Charley, a self-confessed party girl, has the backing of only four punters, amounting to the grand total of £5 – the smallest ever wagered on one contestant in the opening hours of betting.
"Charley managed to alienate the crowd within seconds on launch night. She faces an uphill battle from here on in,” said Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg.
Charley is now out at 40/1 with Ladbrokes to win the show. Laura, a 23-year-old Welsh nanny, is the current housemate receiving the most backing and is at 11/2.
However, bookies and the public don’t seem too impressed with the credentials of the housemates in the all-female house. Even though a man is yet to step foot in the house, any male to win the show is 8/11.
Those odds are echoed by fellow bookmaker William Hill, who reported the biggest Big Brother betting day in its history on launch night.
"Big Brothers has definitely not run out of steam and it just seems to get bigger and bigger. The phones and internet have been red hot all day as punters look for the early value, but we would be surprised if we have even seen the winner yet and all the bigger bets we have accepted have been for any other contestant as the stats are in favour of a male winner," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
