Accused man wins $2,100 lotto on TV

Timothy Snyder, 44, St Louisville, accused of conning up to $135,000 from three people in a home repair scam and awaiting trial, has won $2,100 on the lottery game-show “Make Me Famous, Make Me Rich”.

Snyder had already beat odds of 50-1 to appear on the game-show in a scratch-off against other would-be contestants.

Lottery officials said there are no rules that prevent someone who is facing trial from appearing on the show. Snyder’s hearing is planned for May 29 in Licking County Common Pleas Court.

Snyder, arrested last year on two counts of theft from an elderly person and misuse of a credit card, is currently free on a $5,000 bond. The scam involved home-repair work that was never completed.

County prosecutors said last week that they hoped Snyder would perform well on the show so that he would have some money to pay back his victims.

If convicted, Snyder faces up to 20 years in jail.
