888 to Buy Ladbrokes?

Casino and Poker group 888 have announced that they are hoping to buy an internet betting business this year. It is widely rumoured that the betting business in question is Ladbrokes.

888’s CEO, John Anderson said that he hoped to offer sports betting to the companies huge database of casino and poker players to provide a boost to customer retention and organic growth.

He added ‘In terms of sports books, the one thing I will not be doing is taking bets from American citizens in America because that’s illegal under the Wire Act in the States.”

The rumours are likely to lead to increased interest in 888’s share price. The online casino and poker company’s shares were on the rise throughout January. Their value at the end of the month was just shy of 230p. Today they are down a little at 203p and are widely tipped to rise over the coming days and weeks. Watch this space.
