Casino for Wolves at Molineux?
It has been revealed that Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux stadium could potentially be a shock choice for a casino permitted to the city’s council under the Gambling Act 2005.
It was initially thought that Wolverhampton Racecourse was odds on to be permitted a casino, which will be allowed 80 slot machines and jackpots of up to £4,000. But Wolves spokesman Matt Grayson, despite commenting that it’s not in the club’s current plans, has refused to rule out a move for the casino.
"It is not on the agenda at the moment but we always keep an open mind about these things," Grayson told the Express and Star.
Way back in 2004, Wolves argued that their stadium would be a better location for a casino than the city’s racecourse. Should they be granted the casino licence, the extra revenue gained from hosting a casino would go someway to improving the clubs financial position.
