In European Roulette it is possible to place up to 10 types of bets. Each type of bet in European Roulette covers a certain range of numbers and each type has its own payoff. The guide below will help you understand this in more detail.
Types of bets with European Roulette
A European Roulette betting layout allows to place bets on one or more numbers at any one time. All the numbers on a European Roulette table are arranged in 12 rows and three columns and at the top of the number field is the number zero. All bets placed in this space or on the lines between numbers are called 'inside bets'.

European Roulette Inside Bets
An inside bet is a type of Roulette bet made up of specific number bets or a combination of different numbers within the number layout on the table. The following bets are all classed as inside bets.
Straight-up bet (single number bet)
This is the simplest type of roulette bet and is when you bet on one single number. Put your chips on any of the 37 numbers.
Split bet (two numbers)
Just as it sounds, a split bet is a bet on two different numbers beside each other on the table layout. Put your chips down on the line between the numbers.
Street bet (three numbers)
The street bet allows you to play on three different numbers with the same bet. Place your chips on the outside of the row of numbers you want to bet on.
Corner bet (four numbers)
A corner bet means that you place you bet in the middle of four adjoining numbers.
Five Number Bet (five numbers)
The five number bet does not exist on a European roulette table as there is no double zero. Only American roulette tables have the double zero.
Line bet (six numbers)
A line bet is when you bet that one of six numbers will come up. Line bets are placed on the intersection of the two lines of three numbers.
European Roulette Outside Bets
Outside bets in European roulette are placed outside of the 37 numbers of the European roulette table layout and refer to specific sections and colours.
Red or Black
The red or black bet means that you are betting that a particular colour will come up, either red or black. If the ball lands on the 0 all bets lose. Place your chips on the red or black diamond on the table.
Odd or Even
An odd or even bet on a European roulette table means you are betting that the winning number will be either odd or even. Place your chips in the middle of the square marked EVEN or the square marked ODD.
High or Low
The high or low bet allows a player to bet on whether the next winning number will be in the top (numbers 1 to 18) or bottom half (numbers 19 to 36) of the European roulette table. Place your chips in the boxes marked either 1 to 18 or 19 to 36. In most cases if a 0 is the winning number, all even money outside bets are halved and returned to the player.
On a roulette table there are three columns or 12 numbers each. Bets are placed at the bottom or each column, 0 is not included in any column. Place this bet by putting your chips in one of the three 2 to 1 boxes at the bottom of the table. If any number from the column you chose comes up you win. If 0 is spun, column bets lose.
The roulette wheel has three dozen numbers (excluding 0). The dozens bet lets you place a bet on either the first (numbers 1 to 12), the second (numbers 13 to 24), or the third dozen (numbers 25 to 36). Place your chips in the corresponding area on the left hand side of the table. If 0 is spun, dozen bets lose.
