Genting, the biggest operator of casinos in the UK, has bought London’s only fully licensed poker club, Fox Poker Club, according to Gaming Intelligence.
The acquisition, which was for an undisclosed sum, further cements the company’s position as one of the biggest gaming operators in the UK, adding to their existing collection of 45 casinos in the UK.
The club was founded by Ian Hogg and Chris North back in 2005, who capitalised on the burgeoning popularity of the poker – though it only received its full UK casino license in 2008 and opened in September 2010. A 24-hour operating license followed July of this year.
Nevertheless, despite being relatively young in an operational sense, the club has over 20,000 members and despite all the hard work to get the club where it is today, North believes it has been worth it.
“It was always a dream of mine to open a poker club in London and although it’s been a real challenge, with delayed openings and not getting our 24 hour license until July this year, I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved,” North said.
If you fancy heading down to the club to play and few hands and see what all the fuss is about, the club is located on 93-107 Shaftesbury Avenue. If poker is not your thing, and prefer a game of blackjack, slots or roulette, be sure to check out our review of the equally impressive Genting Casino.
