888 Become Second Online Operator to Have Ad Banned

Following Betfair’s ‘middle man’ advert being banned from UK television screens recently after being judged to be misleading by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), 888 have suffered a similar fate.

The 888 television advert in question has been running for some time now and has been used to promote the eight free spins to win £8,888,888 promotion that has been so popular at the online casino.

However, one viewer who had taken part in the promotion and won a small amount during the free spins argued that the advert was misleading. It was questioned as to whether consumers were made aware that they had to wager a certain amount of money in order to become eligible to cash out any winnings that they may have had.

After a response from 888, the ASA decided to uphold the complaint and ruled that the advert must not be show again in its current form.
