A bill created by Cypriot government that will ban online gambling in the country could be about to become law.
The bill has already been approved by Cypriot officials and has now been passed on to the European Commission for acceptance. Should the bill receive the go ahead from the EC then online casino players in Cyprus will have to go without online roulette, poker and slots but will still be able to gamble on sports in betting shops.
The Cyprus Mail has also reported that the bill will call for the creation of a gaming board to regulate all forms of gambling permitted in Cyprus. It was also mentioned that there are believed to be around 600 online casinos operating in the country as a result of the lack of legislation and the new bill will attempt to address this situation.
