It’s that time of year again - yes, you guessed it - it’s time for Paddy Power to offer some very strange odds on who will be the next winner of the Mercury Music Prize. While the Irish bookmaker tends to tip the most popular artists as the next winner of the Mercury Music Prize, it never really turns out that way.
Back in 2009, Paddy Power had Florence and the Machine as a dead cert to win the prize, only for Speech Debelle, who had odds of 12/1, to receive the accolade. With that in mind, here’s the odds for 2010’s Mercury Music prize winner:
The XX – XX 6/4
Wild Beasts - Two Dancers 5/1
Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More 11/2
Laura Marling – I Speak Because I Can 9/1
Foals – Total Life Forever 11/1
Villagers - Becoming A Jackal 11/1
I Am Kloot – Sky At Night 12/1
Corinne Bailey Rae - The Sea 12/1
Paul Weller - Wake Up The Nation 20/1
Dizzee Rascal – Tongue N’ Cheek 22/1
Biffy Clyro - Only Revolutions 25/1
Kit Downes Trio – Golden 25/1
